Tomebound vs ManaBox

How Tomebound and ManaBox differ for tracking a Magic collection, and how to move your cards from ManaBox to Tomebound.

ManaBox is a phone app with a built-in card scanner. Tomebound is a website that also works on a phone browser. Both track a Magic collection.

Which is better for tracking a Magic collection, Tomebound or ManaBox?

It depends on how you add cards. Pick ManaBox if you want a native iOS or Android app with a scanner built in, and you mostly work from your phone. Pick Tomebound if you want to manage a large collection from a computer, keep it in sync across devices for free, check decks against what you own, or ask an AI assistant about your cards. You can scan in ManaBox and move the file to Tomebound later.

What each one is for

  • ManaBox is an iOS and Android app. Its FAQ says a desktop app is in development.
  • Tomebound is a website. You can add it to your phone's home screen.

Price, as of October 2026

  • ManaBox has a free version and a paid Pro subscription, bought through the App Store or Google Play. Its guides name Cloud Sync, which keeps your collection in sync across devices, as a Pro feature. I did not find the Pro price on ManaBox's website, so check the app store listing.
  • Tomebound is free. There are no paid plans, and sync is included.

Specifics

  • Scanning: ManaBox scans with the phone camera inside its app. Tomebound can also scan cards with a phone camera in the browser, and a paired phone can send scans to a review queue on your computer. ManaBox's scanner is the more established one.
  • Locations: ManaBox has binders and lists, and uses binders to decide whether you can build a deck. Tomebound has containers (binders, boxes) and decks, with ownership checks per deck.
  • Prices: ManaBox offers several price providers: TCGplayer, Cardmarket, Mana Pool, Card Kingdom, Star City Games and Cardhoarder. Tomebound uses Scryfall prices, updated daily, and keeps daily value history for your collection, containers and decks.
  • Sync: ManaBox Cloud Sync works on up to five devices and is a Pro feature. Tomebound syncs across your signed-in browsers.
  • AI assistants: Tomebound connects to Claude (listed in its connector directory), to ChatGPT through its custom connector setup, and to other MCP clients. I did not find an assistant integration from ManaBox.

Move your collection from ManaBox to Tomebound

  1. In ManaBox, export your collection as a CSV from the collection tab's menu. The step-by-step guide is How to export your collection from ManaBox.
  2. In Tomebound, open Add Cards, choose import, and upload the file. ManaBox includes each card's Scryfall ID, so printings match exactly.
  3. Each ManaBox binder becomes a Tomebound container with the same name. Cards in a ManaBox deck go into a deck of that name.
  4. Review, confirm, and undo the whole import in one step if something looks wrong.

Purchase prices, misprint and altered flags are not imported.
