Home overview

Home is an overview of your collection. All Cards remains the starting view.

Choose a collection overview

  • Choose Home above All Cards in the sidebar, or open a link with ?view=home. Opening Tomebound without a view or location link still opens All Cards. The signed-out demo supports Home too.
  • Ledger shows physical card quantities, unique cards, and a value estimate in your selected currency. Unique cards counts collection entries, matching the collection totals strip. Price totals identify loading, unavailable, and unpriced records, including records left out of a partial total. Card type and the eight largest sets count physical copies. Card types use the front face, counting each of its types. The ten most valuable printings are ranked by price per copy, show all owned copies of that printing and finish across locations and conditions, and open card details. Hover a card image to preview it. Containers show their physical counts and value; cards stored in decks are not counted as container contents.
  • An empty collection shows just the empty state with Add and Import actions. Summaries use the collection and prices available on this device, so offline or incomplete metadata may leave values or breakdowns unknown. Home computes large collections in small batches and reuses summaries until collection, container details, or prices change. When you are signed in, Home also shows value history (see below).

Follow value over time

  • Tomebound records your collection's value once a day, after that day's prices arrive, along with the value of each container and each deck. Values are in USD and use the same exact printing and finish prices as the rest of the app. Cards without a price are left out of the value and counted as unpriced, never treated as $0. History cannot be filled in for days before recording began, so it starts on the first recorded day.
  • Home shows the change over the chosen range and a line chart; hover or drag across the chart to read a day. With the chart focused, use the arrow keys to move between days, Home and End to jump to the first or last day, or Escape to dismiss the readout. Choose 30d, 90d, 1y or All once your history is longer than the shorter range. Until two days are recorded, Home says when value history starts. Biggest movers shows card images with price-change labels for the owned cards whose price changed most over the last week or month, by the total change for the copies you own; a card priced on only one of the two days is left out. Hover an image to preview its printing and prices, or select it to open card details.
  • A container's page shows the same chart for the cards in it. A deck's page shows it for the owned copies located in the deck, without the maybeboard, so it can differ from the deck value, which prices the whole decklist. These compact header charts hide on narrow screens. Renaming a container or deck starts its history again. Value history needs a signed-in account; the signed-out demo and shared links do not show it.

Display preferences

  • Settings include connected apps, access tokens, privacy controls for anonymous analytics, and copyable support details. Everyone uses the book appearance with paper, cloth, DM Sans interface text, and the default text size; older theme and text-size choices are ignored. The feature tour and setup guides also keep their light palette. Choose table-cell wrapping in the collection or deck table’s View settings, beside row density. Choose Truncate for one-line cells or Wrap for full text; both tables share the same browser preference, and your existing choice is preserved.
  • Interface text uses sentence case: headings, labels, buttons, menus, and status messages capitalize only their first word, while All Cards, Add Cards, Consult the Tome, Containers, Decks, and Share keep their capitals. The sidebar sort labels alphabetical, recent, top, and custom stay lowercase. Card and set names, your own names, and Tomebound retain their spelling. Condition, language, and finish codes shown on cards stay lowercase; set codes stay uppercase. Prices use a currency symbol, grouped thousands, and two decimals, such as $6,785.11. Dates read Sep 17, 2026; timestamps add local time, such as Sep 17, 2026, 3:04 pm. The price-as-of date uses UTC so it matches the daily price snapshot everywhere.
  • Preferences are stored locally in the browser. Sign in and open your account menu to reach settings. The dialog uses the shared header and close button, supports dragging and resizing on desktop, and opens as a bottom sheet on phones.
  • On screens wider than 900 pixels, dialogs can be resized from the bottom-left corner or the left and bottom edges. Each dialog remembers its size in this browser and opens centered, fitting the current screen. Double-click the corner grip to restore its default size. Narrow screens keep their sheet or drawer layout. The add-card drawer keeps its existing layout.
  • The layout adapts across desktop and mobile, with drawers replacing sidebars on small screens. Desktop Omni-search, Chat and Help sit in the sidebar footer with their keyboard shortcuts. Add is the primary action in the page toolbar. On phones, the route title sits in the top bar. Add sits above the content on Home and Trade and floats at the bottom right in collection and deck views. Omni-search, Help, Chat, Back to top, Collection history and About Tomebound are in More in the top bar. Collection totals and the price date appear in the header; deck board counts and value remain in the status bar. History and about remain reachable while the collection scrolls. The footer fits its content without an empty navigation reservation. The navigation frame uses the sidebar for collection, decks, containers, and account in every appearance, whether signed in or out. When a bottom navigation bar is displayed, the footer sits above it.
  • In the about dialog, the Benson Perry credit opens the author's website in a new tab.

Analytics

  • For the US service, anonymous PostHog product analytics are on by default to help find confusing interactions. Analytics requests are routed through the first-party domain t.bensonperry.com before PostHog Cloud US processes them. Tomebound does not attach your Clerk account identity or email to PostHog and does not create a PostHog person profile.
  • Analytics can include page views, button and link clicks, and browser and device details. The signed-in account surface is excluded from click capture. While analytics is on, Tomebound also records session replays of what the page shows and where you click, scroll, and type; password fields and the sign-in and account areas are left out. Analytics keeps the domain of the site that linked you to Tomebound and a link's utm_source tag, but not the full referring address or other campaign tags. URL query strings, console logs, network bodies, and performance capture are not collected. While analytics is on, a page error sends a short error report: the error's type, a trimmed message with URL query strings removed, and the file it came from. Analytics and error reports stay off when the browser blocks site data for Tomebound.
  • Open Settings to turn analytics off or back on for this browser. A supported Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track browser signal keeps analytics off automatically.

Design studio

  • The design studio at /design-system/ opens in the same book theme as Tomebound, with paper textures, the cloth sidebar, and the production navigation.
  • The theme explorer starts from the active theme's palette. Edit a book draft, inspect its contrast readout, and export CSS, palette JSON, or a shareable draft URL. Studio changes use disposable sample data and do not change your collection.

When something feels wrong

  • Check whether filters, search, or format legality are narrowing the current view.
  • Use clear all filters to get back to the full collection.
  • Copy the support details from settings when reporting a bug.
  • Production canary and error reports use Tomebound in their email subjects. Existing browser preferences, collection data, CLI credentials, and previously issued tokens remain valid through the rename.
